Eduardo, his wife Gabriella and their five-year-old daughter Venus lived in their basement apartment. They lost everything except the clothes on their back. Venus needs a whole new set of toys. Watch Interview

Nancy has a home in Ortley and owns a barbershop in Lavallette. Both are severely damaged. Her husband Mark died suddenly five days after the storm. Nancy really needs $9,000 for a funeral. Watch Interview

Liz
Liz and her mom own a local store, called The Blue Bungalow. Hurricane Sandy took both their homes and Liz's office. The storm also took the life of Liz's father. Watch Interview

Maureen
Maureen is 66 years old. She celebrated her first birthday in her home, which she lost along with all of her belongings. She is currently living in a hotel. Watch Interview

John recently bought a commercial property in Ortley Beach and was two weeks away from opening a restaurant called Johnny Fries when Sandy hit. He’s currently rebuilding for a February opening. Watch Interview

Ronald
Ronald resides in Rockaway Beach. His holiday wish is for the beach to go back to the way it used to be.

Fernando
Fernando is a single dad with three kids. Hurricane Sandy washed away many of his most prized possessions and his favorite surfing beach.

Joe
Joe is a retired firefighter. He bought his house in Rockaway Beach in July. Three months later, it was destroyed along with many of his neighbors’ homes.

Jill
Jill lives with her dog Beemer in Ortley Beach. She spends most of her days searching through piles of rubble looking for her belongings, all of which were washed away in the storm.

Jeanmarie
Jeanmarie has a husband and two daughters. They lost both cars and their entire basement. In spite of this, they’re very grateful for their lives and the fact that they’re together.

Deanna
Deanna lives in Lavallette and hasn’t been allowed to move back. Although her house did not sustain severe damage, many of her friends and family lost their homes and businesses.

Jeanne
Jeanne is the mother of three girls. She lost the entire first floor of her home and all her art supplies. The storm left her husband unemployed.

Ginny & Teddy
Ginny is currently living in her aunt’s house with her son Teddy, her two other sons and her husband. The first floor of her house was completely destroyed, along with Teddy’s bedroom.

Peter
Peter’s house flooded with nine feet of water. His parents’ house burned to the ground. Thankfully, they escaped. Peter is very, very grateful to still have his parents alive.
